Description
This does NOT come with a color chart. Phenolphthalein test paper will turn pink when the ammonia in solution is from 3-5PPM.
This is a widely used testing method for refrigeration units due to the low cost and portability of the strips. They are suitable for use at home, in hockey rinks, and in various other settings. Ammonia (NH3), being a very small molecule, can seep through even tiny gaps in the fittings used to connect gas lines. To detect ammonia gas simply wet the test strip with water & hold it near the suspected leak. The most likely places are typically joints or fittings. The paper will change from white to pink if it comes into contact with ammonia. If the color change is immediate, get a protective mask with an air supply.
