Description

  • For measuring the chloride ion (Cl-1) present in solution from 0-1,000 ppm Cl.
  • Each kit comes in a vial of 50 test strips in a moisture wicking bottle and a water resistant color chart.
  • THREE color chart blocks at 0, 500, 1000 ppm Cl, perfect for getting approximate quantitative values.
  • This strip can be used to educate students on the difference between “fresh” and “salt” water.
  • It can also be useful in explaining the concepts of freezing point depression and boiling point elevation.

Salinity test strips measure the chloride ion (Cl-1) present in solution from 0-1,000 ppm Cl. This strip has three color chart blocks at 0, 500, 1000 ppm Cl, perfect for getting approximate quantitative values. This strip can be used to educate students on the difference between “fresh” and “salt” water. It can also be useful in explaining the concepts of freezing point depression and boiling point elevation. In applications where the salt content is high the sample will require dilution with deionized water before running the test. In these cases, the test result will need to be corrected by using a dilution factor to arrive at the final result.

How to test the salinity of water:

1) Dip the strip into water for 1 second.

2) Wait 10 seconds, then compare the test strip to the color chart. *Important! Do not touch the test pad with your fingers.
