Description

  • The strips are designed for user convenience, requiring no additional equipment and providing results within seconds
  • The Peroxide Test Strip will turn a progressively darker shade of blue depending on the concentration of peroxide in the mixture
  • Obtain straightforward measurements at 0, 1, 3, 10, 50, and 100 ppm.

We designed our low-level Peroxide Test Strips to identify remaining peroxides in drinking water, pools, ice baths, cold plunges, and hot tubs treated with peroxide as a disinfectant. Our H2O2 test strips deliver quick results in seconds, calibrated to 0, 1, 3, 10, 50, and 100 ppm for accurate readings.

Another common use for our test strips is evaluating the safety of flotation tanks, including those with Epsom salt. Our strips are calibrated for precise measurements in float tanks and offer reliable peroxide level readings. In commercial environments, our Peroxide Test Strips are crucial in testing and accurately determining peroxide concentrations, essential for maintaining cleanliness and safety in Float Tanks.

Mushroom cultivators can also use this test for hydrogen peroxide before using it to sterilize bulk mushroom substrate growth media.

How to use peroxide test strips:

  1. Remove one test strip from the vial. Do not touch the test pad with your fingers.
  2. Dip the test strip into the solution being tested for 1 second.
  3. Remove and shake off any excess liquid.
  4. Ten seconds after removal from the test solution, compare the color of the test pad on the strip to the color chart.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do peroxide test strips work?

The test pad is treated with a formula consisting of buffers, surfactants, a red-ox indicator, and an enzyme. The enzyme makes the strip very sensitive to peroxide. The presence of peroxide causes the red-ox to develop color. The intensity of the color developed is proportional to the amount of peroxide present.

Does this strip work with Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide?

The peroxide test strips were developed to work with solutions prepared from concentrated solutions of hydrogen peroxide. Some formulations of hydrogen peroxide contain surfactants to create an “accelerated” peroxide solution. These “accelerated” solutions may work with the test strips but almost always require a custom color chart to be developed.

Do these test strips detect organic peroxides?

Yes, our low level peroxide strips can measure organic peroxides. Two specific examples are Peracetic Acid (PAA) and Peroxyoctanoic Acid (POOA), both of which give positive responses using these strips.

That being said, while the color scheme appears similar, the color chart supplied with this strip has not been calibrated to PAA, POOA, or any other organic peroxide. It is calibrated to hydrogen peroxide. Also keep in mind that organic peroxides (like PAA) are often a mixture that includes hydrogen peroxide.

Can I test 35% food grade peroxide with this strip?

This product is designed to test residual (low level) peroxide, so, although it could be used to test food grade hydrogen peroxide, it would require a very precise dilution ratio that would be hard to achieve accurately.
For testing food grade peroxide, I recommend using our “very high level” strip.
