These strips are perfect for testing the available chlorine in bleach solutions-great for high level surface disinfection . Strong bleach kills the most resistant bacteria & viruses even in the presence of blood/feces. Check available chlorine at 0, 1000, 2500, 5000, 7500, and 10,000 ppm. Each test takes approximately 30 seconds. Packaged in a vial of 100 strips. Each vial is lined with desiccant to maintain freshness. Broad-range Test strips handle high-level available chlorine testing up to 10,000 ppm.
These strips were designed to work with solutions prepared from bleach concentrate, and the pH of the test solution needs to be above 10 to work correctly.
You can read about a study published in American Association for Laboratory Animal Science that focuses on the stability and effectiveness of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) solutions used in disinfecting research animal environments that utilized this test. The study stated “these strips are useful for nonregulatory reporting and for spot checking.” and “colorimetric strips are a useful tool for a quick determination of adequate disinfection capacity of a given dilute solution. These strips may be a useful quality control tool for detecting the FAC of freshly prepared solutions, manufacturing changes in starting bleach concentrations, and errors in dilution. These events are not unlikely, as evidenced by the lower-than-expected starting concentration in the commercial bleach product used in this experiment.”
